Little Foxes Footy Academy is the only dedicated AFL program in Sydney designed for pre-Auskick training for children aged 2-5 years old. Our program was developed by former Sydney Swan and inaugural GWS Giants AFLW Head Coach, Tim Schmidt.

Age-level learning

Our program caters for three different age groups (2-3, 3-4, 4-5), so every lesson offers the appropriate level of engagement for your little ones. Our classes are kept small, with a maximum of 10 children per coach and are 45 minutes in duration.

Fun and engaging

Our coaches are passionate about AFL and provide a fun, safe & engaging environment to learn the fundamentals of the game. Our program also helps develop confidence, coordination & teamwork - all while having fun with friends!

Our story

Little Foxes Footy Academy was launched in 2023 by husband and wife team, Tim and Lian Schmidt. Tim is a former professional AFL footballer who played for the Sydney Swans and was the inaugural head coach of the GWS Giants AFLW women's team. He now runs his own successful elite AFL kicking and coaching business, Kicking Dynamics. Lian is an Art Director and Project Manager, with over 18 years experience creating digital and brand experiences.

Together they have a 3 year old son named Fox (and baby on the way!), who from a young age was ball crazy and loved watching the Sydney Swans train. After searching around Sydney for AFL programs to enrol their son in, they realised there wasn’t anything available for children under 5. This is where the idea of Little Foxes Footy Academy was developed.

Our philosophy

We believe if children are having fun, they’re more likely to learn and develop - this is our approach to our program design. We provide fun exercises and challenges that help develop a child’s motor skills with an AFL underpinning. Our coaches love working with kids, are enthusiastic and have great football knowledge.
